ECO TRAIL  Anello sterrato, lunghezza 1,85 km – Anello triangolare, con i lati est e sud pianeggianti. Il lato sud termina con una rampetta in salita, il lato nord dopo alcune ondulazioni riporta alla quota di partenza. Percorso delizioso per allenamenti e deliziosa la gara di metà agosto.

L’accesso alla Riserva è sul lato nord della strada provinciale n. 63 Marina di Ragusa – Donnalucata, a 2,10 km dalla rotatoria est di Marina e a 1,34 km dall’incrocio con aiuole spartitraffico ad ovest di Donnalucata.

Entrate, parcheggiate il vostro veicolo e percorrete il percorso di avvicinamento a piedi: è sterrato parallelo alla strada (in verde, circa 250 m in tutto). Dopo il breve tunnel e la corta rampetta in salita inizia l’anello, che la maggior parte dei runners percorrono in senso orario. Il lato sud corre lungo il canneto e incontra un maestoso esemplare di olivo prima del cambio di direzione verso ovest (350 m dalla partenza). Stiamo percorrendo il sentiero retrodunale, contornato da folte macchie di vegetazione mediterranea e percepiamo la presenza del mare. Lo vedremo finalmente quando saremo giunti alla base del corto strappo ciottoloso che metterà alla prova le gambe imprigrite dal percorso orizzontale. Giunti in cima (1,15 km) voltiamo a destra e il nostro occhio accoglie meravigliato lo spettacolo della lunga spiaggia. Subito giù e poi leggermente in risalita, una “s” nuovamente in discesa e un passaggio in ombra ci riportano al punto di partenza, con un percorso a tratti ciottoloso rispetto ad una andata in terra battuta e sabbia compatta.

In estate è consigliabile scegliere e ore mattutine e serali, d’inverno non ci sono limitazioni di orario, se non quelle prescritte dal regolamento della Riserva. La Riserva è presidiata da personale dell’Azienda Forestale della Regione Siciliana ed è un’area naturalistica interessante per flora e fauna, un luogo gradito agli amanti della fotografia e ai bambini, il cui passatempo preferito è quello di lanciare molliche ai voraci pesci che popolano il laghetto presso la foce.

ECO TRAIL Irminio River Mouth Nature Reserve

Dirt ring, length 1.85 km – Triangular ring, with the east and south sides flat. The south side ends with an uphill ramp, the north side after some undulations leads back to the starting elevation. Delightful route for training and delightful mid-August race.

Access to the Reserve is on the north side of provincial road No. 63 Marina di Ragusa – Donnalucata, 2.10 km from the Marina east traffic circle and 1.34 km from the intersection with traffic island beds west of Donnalucata. Very close to the hamlets Playa Grande and Chamaerops.

Enter, park your vehicle and walk the approach path: it is dirt parallel to the road (in green, about 250 m in all). After the short tunnel and the short uphill ramp, the loop begins, which most runners walk clockwise. The south side runs along the reedbed and meets a majestic olive tree before changing direction to the west (350 m from the start). We are running along the backdune path, surrounded by thick patches of Mediterranean vegetation, and we sense the presence of the sea. We will finally see it when we reach the base of the short pebbly tear that will test the legs imprisoned by the horizontal path.

When we reach the top (1.15 km) we turn right and our eye welcomes in wonder at the spectacle of the long beach. Immediately down and then slightly uphill, an “s” again downhill and a shady passage bring us back to the starting point, with a path that is pebbly in places compared to one that went on packed earth and sand.

In summer it is advisable to choose and morning and evening hours, in winter there are no time restrictions except those prescribed by the Reserve regulations. The Reserve is manned by staff of the Sicilian Region Forestry Company and is an interesting naturalistic area for flora and fauna, a welcome place for photography enthusiasts and for children, whose favorite pastime is to throw crumbs to the voracious fish that populate the small lake near the mouth.
